Space Colony ARK Act 1 Challenge 1 No, this is not a device or technique that counters chaos that doesn’t exist in nature. It DOES involve counting Artificial Chaos though! This is the first Challenge stage in Shadow Generations, going by the list of challenges, and it asks you to defeat 30 Artificial Chaos enemies. To get the S-Rank, you’ll also need to get to the Goal Ring within 1 minute 20 seconds. I always had the impression that Artificial Chaos were difficult to make and resource-intensive, considering in Sonic Adventure 2, where they originated, they seldom appeared and were considered much bigger threats than other common enemies. They were malleable, could attack from afar, attacked relentlessly, and could restrict your movements with their watery tentacles. But here? Apparently, Professor Gerald Robotnik had been hiding dozens of them in this one part on the Space Colony ARK! By then though, Shadow’s become a lot stronger and is able to make smoothies out of them without breaking a sweat. That being said, you cannot destroy them by boosting into them; instead, Shadow just bounces off their watery bodies. A Homing Attack is necessary to dispose of them. By the way, there are two types of Artificial Chaos in this game, and both are found in this mission: P-1, the conical kind attached to the ground; and P-100, the spherical kind that floats in the air. The Professor originally intended them for humanitarian purposes, as automatons whose bodies are made of a material that can easily be found on the premises on most places on Earth and thus useful for disaster relief. However, he accidentally made them extremely aggressive, hence their behavior in the present day.
