Majed Dahoud was shot and killed during an Israeli military raid on Al-Ein refugee camp, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The army says its operations are necessary to counter security threats emanating from the West Bank. Violence in the occupied territory has surged, with the Israeli military carrying out large-scale operations targeting militants that have killed hundreds of Palestinians and displaced tens of thousands. There has also been a rise in Israeli settler violence and in Palestinian attacks against Israelis. Israel captured the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war, and Palestinians want all three territories for their future state. The West Bank and East Jerusalem is home to some 3 million Palestinians and about 500,000 Jewish settlers.
