Authorities have identified the victim found floating in a creek Monday morning near Bonny Oaks Drive as 85-year-old Charles Pittman. Pittman was reported missing on Sunday, and suffered from Alzheimer s and Dementia. Two Hamilton county teens were headed back from the DMV, when they made the disturbing discovery. "As we were driving by, he looked out of the corner of his eye and he saw a body just floating in the river," says Colby Burnette. "I was just like looking over and I noticed something weird under the bridge like a person so I made him turn around and we just came down here and checked it out and as soon as I realized it was an actual dead body I called 911," adds Ethan Swilley. Despite a thick cloud of fog, the two 18-year-olds were certain of what they saw. Dispatch told them to stay put until officers arrived. Investigators found no evidence of foul play and say that no one else had a part in his death. "It appears that he was just in the area here and it was contained to just this area," says Chattanooga Police Department Sgt. Tom Layne. Investigators are waiting the results from the Hamilton County Medical Examiner s Office.
