She was born in 1979 and immigrated to Sydney, Australia with her family at the age of seven. Musically inclined from a young age, she learned to play the piano and violin, later earning an associate diploma in piano from Trinity College London. At 16, she won a singing contest organized by TVB, which offered her a recording contract, but she initially chose to focus on her studies instead. After graduating from university, she returned to Hong Kong and worked in her family's accounting business while still pursuing music. Her debut album, Close To You (2002), marked the beginning of her professional music career. She later signed with Evosound and released albums like Someone Like You (2007), 511 (2009), and My Live Stories (2012), gaining popularity across Southeast Asia.
