The Memento Mori tour starts after the spring release of the band's 15th studio album of the same name. Breaking with past tradition, the tour will begin with North American concerts on March 23rd, before the European summer stadium tour, which starts on May 16th. Commenting on Memento Mori, Martin Gore said: “We started working on the record in the early stages of the pandemic, and its themes are directly inspired by the current period. After Fletch's death, we decided to continue because we're sure that's what he would have wanted, and it really added meaning to the project." Dave Gahan added: “Fletch wanted this album. We're really looking forward to sharing it with the fans and performing it live at concerts next year.” Memento Mori will be Depeche Mode's 19th tour and their return after a hiatus of more than five years. The band's most recent run, Global Spirit 2017-2018, was their longest tour to date, playing to more than 3 million fans in 130 shows across Europe and North America, making it one of the highest-grossing tours of the year. With over 100 million records sold and a fan base of over 35 million, Depeche Mode continues to be an ever-evolving yet uniquely influential musical force that continues to forge ahead, and the Memento Mori album and tour will open the latest chapter in their unique legacy.
