Ray Colman, a loud, overconfident bus driver, bursts through the door holding a giant, ridiculous homemade invention: a “Money-Multiplying Miracle Machine” made out of scrap metal, wires, and an old toaster. He announces—at full volume—that this is the invention that’s finally gonna make them rich. Lena, his sharp-tongued wife, stands at the stove with her arms crossed, giving him the longest, most unimpressed stare possible. She dryly asks, “Does it toast bread… or just your brain cells?” Ray proudly plugs the machine in. The lights instantly flicker, the machine shakes like it’s alive, and sparks shoot out the top. Eddie Doyle, the goofy neighbor, sticks his head through the doorway at the exact wrong moment and yells, “Ray! You’re cookin’ the building!”
