Mothers of a Nation is about a group of empowered Ugandan women living with HIV and their fight for survival through sustainable farming methods. Narrated by Florence, a 55-year-old woman who has been living with the virus for over 13 years. The womens stories of betrayal and suffering unfold, ultimately leading to voices of strength and hope. The 16mm film is combined with animation that aids as an educational illustration about starting your own home garden and what these women are learning. The film depicts the beauty of Africa through the lives of the women who tirelessly sustain their nation despite heartache and suffering with an experimental approach to didactic story telling.
