Finding the Slope of the Tangent Line - Limit Definition

Finding the Slope of the Tangent Line - Limit Definition

This video introduces two limit equations for finding the slope of the tangent line. Essentially, we have the “x-a” version and the “h” version of the slope of the tangent. This video works with both limit definitions. A detailed explanation of what is meant by the “tangent line” is also presented. We also discuss the difference between a secant line and a tangent line and how a limit is used on the secant line to construct the tangent line. Finally, the video ends with a simple example of using the limit definition of the secant line to find the derivative of a quadratic function, f(x)=8-2x^2. ADA-compliant subtitles/captions
