Surah Ad-Duha سورة الضحى | The Qirat | Beautiful Recitation of the Quran

Assalamo alikum, Surah Ad-Duḥā (Arabic: الضحى) means “The Morning Brightness”, “The Morning Light”, or “The Early Morning Hours.” It is the 93rd chapter of the Qur’an and contains 11 verses. The Surah is named after its opening word “Ad-Duḥā”, referring to the peaceful and bright morning. The Surah begins with oaths that highlight hope, calmness, and Allah’s mercy. It was revealed to comfort Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) during a period when he felt deeply worried. This Surah is often recited together with Surah Al-Inshirah (Ash-Sharh) because both chapters share similar themes—comfort, hope, ease after hardship, and Allah’s constant care. Some narrations mention that these two surahs are connected and were recited together in salah without saying the basmala between them. There is also a narration that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said that whoever recites Surah Ad-Duha will be among those whom Allah is pleased with, and the Prophet’s intercession may reach him. He will also receive the reward of ten good deeds for every orphan, needy person, or seeker of help. Overall, the Surah reminds us that Allah never leaves His servant, and that after every difficulty, there is comfort.
