Inspired by Nigel Kneale's TV adaptation of '1984', the show was such a success that it was repeated by popular demand five weeks later - not a recorded repeat but a new performance of the script. The main difference is the telescreen announcements read by John Snagge instead of Sellers. The first version is the one which has been widely available. This is a rare recording of the second version: the opening 1 minute 40 seconds are missing so I've patched them in from the first version. The musical items have been removed (before I acquired it): the second version picks up when you first hear Snagge : apart from his (pre-recorded) presence the changes are very minor. 20th of the 5th series, broadcast 8 February 1955. (I did not create the chapters, they seem to have been added automatically. There are no 'bloopers'.)
