Abstraction | New York | November 2022

This November, Phillips 20th Century & Contemporary Art Sales spotlight the contributions of over 20 women artists whose practices engage and question the canon of abstraction. Along with exceptional works by Joan Mitchell Yayoi Kusama in our evening sale, we look at works from the morning and afternoon sessions, which include early pioneers whose contributions are finally being addressed in retrospect, to artists who continue to challenge conventions today. The works presented here communicate the range and scope with which these artists expand the scope of abstraction.
