Jai Kaveri Amma 🙏🏼 The point of origin of Kaveri, Talakaveri is in the Brahmagiri ranges of the Western Ghats at an elevation of 1341m. The Kaveri basin is spread over 81,155 sq km in the states of Karnataka (34,273 sq km), Tamil Nadu (43,856 sq km) and Kerala (2,866 sq km) and the Union Territory of Puducherry (160 sq km), which is nearly 2.5% of the total geographical area of India. The width of the basin ranges from 65 to 250 km. The total length of the river from its source to its outfall in the Bay of Bengal is about 800 km of which 320 km is in Karnataka, 416 km in Tamil Nadu. Temples like Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam, Pragatheeswara temple in Thanjavur, and Sri Nataraja temple in Chidambaram are located along the course and delta of the Kaveri river. In ancient Tamil literature, the river was also called Ponni. Pattina Palai, a Tamil poetic work belonging to the Sangam Period (3 B.C to 3 A.D), speaks highly of “Kaveri, the river that never fails, even if the sky does’’. Kallanai (Grand Anicut) is an ancient as well as oldest dam built by the Chola dynasty in the 2nd century. The Godavari river is called the Dakshin Ganga as it is the second longest river after the Ganga. Similarly, the Kaveri river is known as the “Ganga of the South” due to its cultural and religious importance. Before merging into the Bay of Bengal, the Kaveri river breaks into a large number of distributaries. It forms a delta which is known as the “Garden of Southern India”. … My aim with this reel is to cover complex Indian geography in a fun and simple manner. Because India ki geography kaafi amazing hai. Unique bhi hai. But text books kabhi kabhi complicate kar dete hain, toh samajhna mushkil ho jata hai but it’s important ki hum sabko inke baare mein pta rhe. Bass yehi karne ki koshish jaari hai aur kis topic par aapko videos chahiye, suggestions de do yaar, comments mein! Constructive criticism hai toh bilkul do! … #kaveri #tamilnadu #kerala #karnataka #upsc #tnpsc #kpsc #ias #iasaspirants #civilservices #geography #geopolitics #kkcreate #3d #map #animation
