Welcome to Father James Shamaun Production for today’s Urdu Catholic Mass Readings for Thursday, 02 July 2026 – Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time. First Reading: Amos 7:10–17 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 19:8, 9, 10, 11 Holy Gospel: Matthew 9:1–8 In today’s First Reading, we hear about the confrontation between the prophet Amos and Amaziah, the priest of Bethel. Amaziah tries to silence Amos because the message God has entrusted to him is uncomfortable and challenges the people to repent. Amos humbly explains that he was not a professional prophet but was called directly by God while tending his flock. He faithfully proclaims God's Word without fear, reminding us that God's calling is not based on human status or position but on His divine purpose. This reading encourages us to remain faithful to God's truth, even when it is difficult or unpopular. In the Holy Gospel, Jesus returns to Capernaum, where people bring to Him a man who is paralyzed. Seeing the faith of those who brought him, Jesus first says, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven." Some of the scribes accuse Him of blasphemy because only God can forgive sins. To reveal His divine authority, Jesus then heals the paralyzed man, who immediately rises, takes up his mat, and walks home. Through this miracle, Jesus shows that He has authority not only to heal physical illness but also to forgive sins and restore the human heart. Christ desires to heal us completely—body, mind, and soul. As we reflect on today's readings, may we respond generously to God's call like Amos and approach Jesus with complete faith, trusting in His power to forgive, heal, and renew our lives. May we never be afraid to stand for the truth of the Gospel and confidently place every burden into the loving hands of our Savior.
