🔴LIVE: Attorney General Merrick Garland testifies before House Judiciary Committee

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee grilled Attorney General Merrick Garland on the Justice Department’s handling of the federal cases against Hunter Biden and former President Donald Trump in a combative hearing Wednesday. Garland pushed back against GOP accusations of political bias in the Justice Department, telling lawmakers he's "not the president’s lawyer" nor "Congress’s prosecutor." He repeatedly defended the DOJ's independence and said he has not interfered in the Hunter Biden probe — and "no one" has told him to indict Trump. Wednesday's hearing comes following an indictment against President Joe Biden's son, two federal indictments against Trump and amid a House impeachment inquiry against Biden. Several GOP Republicans have also floated impeaching Garland. The attorney general has faced a flurry of criticism from Republicans, who accuse him of failing to protect the department from politicization, and dissatisfaction from Democrats, who say the department has been too timid in going after Trump.
