They wanted to tell the tale of Michelangelo as the last surviving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, after his brothers and Master Splinter were affected by the antimutagen. This idea led to the design of a poster that shows the name TMNT 2, the Turtles and Master Splinter transformed into normal animals, and even Shredder's appearance in this animated universe.
