We understand your zest and that’s why here are few ways to embellish your kid’s world of colors. Generally, children learn to identify colors by 18 months. They can name different colors by the age of 2.5-3 years. However, sometimes it can be frustrating for parents as teaching colors is not as easy as other activities, say like teaching numbers. You can start teaching colors to your toddlers at as early as two year. Toddlers usually love bright colors. Start teaching them the basic colors first: Primary-Red, yellow, blue and Secondary-Green, Purple, Orange by mixing primary colors. Let them understand the concept of these basic colors before you go beyond these six colours. Here are few easy ways to teach colors to your toddlers: Hand painting Colour with crayons Platter a colourful meal Songs and rhymes Compare identical colorful objects DIY colour books Favourite dressings Get close to nature You may introduce the colors of leaves, tree trunk, green grass, colourful butterflies, and various birds like a green parrot, grey pigeon, and so on. These sure shot fun learning ways that will not only teach color recognition and matching colors to your child, but will also improve their motor skills, hand-eye coordination and control, and language. You should always be reviewing colors with your child though, all the way up to kindergarten. Also, be sure to use the color words both before and after the noun (this is a blue pen, this pen is blue).
