Hello Everyone, This is Lecture 2 of Module 4 – Constitution of India, where we study Fundamental Rights (Articles 12 to 35) in detail. Fundamental Rights are often called the “heart of the Constitution” because they guarantee basic freedoms and protect citizens from arbitrary action of the State. In this lecture, Sourav Raj Biwal (NLU Jodhpur) explains Fundamental Rights in a simple and exam-focused manner, keeping in mind the needs of CLAT 2026 aspirants as well as students preparing for AILET, CUET Law, Judiciary Exams, and Class 11–12 Legal Studies. We begin with Article 12, which defines the “State” for the purpose of Fundamental Rights, followed by Article 13, which establishes the principle of judicial review. The lecture then covers the six groups of rights: 1. Right to Equality (Articles 14–18) including reservation and important case laws. 2. Right to Freedom (Articles 19–22) such as freedom of speech and personal liberty under Article 21. 3. Right Against Exploitation (Articles 23–24) prohibiting forced labour and child labour. 4. Freedom of Religion (Articles 25–28) ensuring secularism. 5. Cultural and Educational Rights (Articles 29–30) protecting minorities. 6. Right to Constitutional Remedies (Article 32), which Dr. Ambedkar called the “heart and soul” of the Constitution. Throughout the lecture, landmark cases like Kesavananda Bharati, Indira Sawhney, and PUCL are explained to show how courts have interpreted these rights. This video is a complete foundation for understanding Part III of the Constitution and is extremely important for law entrance preparation.
