Pandora's Box: Pandora was the first woman created by the gods, specifically by Hephaestus at the request of Zeus. Each god bestowed a gift upon her, hence her name, which means "all-gifted." One of these gifts was a beautiful jar (often mistranslated as a box) given to her by Zeus, with strict instructions never to open it. Driven by her curiosity, Pandora eventually opened the jar, unleashing all the evils into the world, such as disease, war, and famine. Only one thing remained inside the jar after all the evils had escaped: Hope. This myth serves as an explanation for the presence of suffering in the world and the enduring nature of hope.
