Poha recipe | How to make poha | Easy Indian breakfast recipe Preparation Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Serves: 4 servings Ingredients: poha thick (rice flakes) - 2 cups (150 grams) onion -1 medium size finely chopped Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp Ginger-1 tbsp(fine chopped) Green chili - 1 finely chopped Asafoetida (Hing) - pinch (optional) Curry leaves - 8-10 Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp Salt 1 tsp or to taste. Sugar - 1/2 tsp (optional) Oil-1-2 tbsp Lemon juice -1/2 or to taste Peas-1/2 cup Potatoes - 1 medium size cubed Peanuts - 1/2 cup (50 grams) ground nuts Fresh chopped coriander-2 tbsp Method for frying peanuts & potatoes : Take a pan, add 1/2 cup of peanuts and roast on low flame for 2-3 minutes.Take them out to cool down. In the same pan add 1 tsp oil , add cubed potatoes and sauté till golden brown on low flame for 3-4 minutes. Method for poha : 1. Take poha in a large container. 2. Clean poha. Add water in poha and wash it and drain water immediately. When water drains out completely add 1/2 tsp salt and sugar into it. Now keep it aside for 15 minutes. 3. Heat 2-tablespoons oil in a pan. Add a pinch of Hing(asafoetida),mustard seeds,when they start to splutter, add cumin seeds, green chilies, ginger and chopped curry leaves ,potatoes ,peanutsAllow them to sizzle until chilies turn crisp for approx. 30-40 seconds on low flame. 4. Add chopped onions and sauté until onions turn translucent. 5. Add turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder,garam masala. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes on low flame.Then add 1/2 cup of fresh peas, cover the pan cook for 1-2 minutes. 6. Add washed poha.Mix all ingredients well. 7. Cook for 1-2 minutes on low flame. Add lemon juice, and finely chopped coriander leaves. 8. Mix well and turn off the flame. 9. poha is ready for serving.😊Happy cooking. Tips and Variations: • Do not soak poha in water. Just gently wash them thoroughly under running water and place them in a strainer to drip away excess water. • Use medium thick rice flakes. Don’t use very thin rice flakes. • Garnish poha with 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds and sev for variation. 😊 Happy cooking 😊
