Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been disqualified from the Indie Game Awards following confirmation

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been disqualified from the Indie Game Awards following confirmation that generative AI was used during development. The decision was announced by Six One Indie after the ceremony aired, with organizers saying the discovery came after voting had closed and the show had been recorded. According to the statement, Sandfall Interactive had previously agreed that no generative AI was used when the game was submitted for consideration. However, Sandfall later confirmed AI usage on the day of the awards’ premiere, which directly violated the show’s rules. As a result, Clair Obscur has lost both Game of the Year and Debut Game awards. The honors have now been passed to the runners-up, with Blue Prince named Game of the Year and Sorry We’re Closed winning Debut Game. #clairobscur #gaming #indiegame #gamingnews
