Ave Maris Stella (“Hail, Star of the Sea”) is a medieval Marian hymn dating to the early Middle Ages and widely sung by monastic and military orders, including the Knights Templar. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the patroness of the Order. The hymn asks for guidance, protection, and intercession. This rendition preserves the monophonic, unaccompanied character of Gregorian chant as it would have been heard in 12th-century stone chapels. Vox Templars
