In Charaka Samhita, one of the foundational texts of Ayurveda, Acharya Charaka mentions Pada-prakshalana—washing or immersing the feet—as an essential part of Dinacharya (daily routine). According to the verse, cleansing the feet daily helps maintain both physical and mental health. Our feet have numerous marma points (vital energy centers) connected to the rest of the body through subtle energy channels (nadis). When we wash our feet—especially with lukewarm water after returning from outside—it helps remove fatigue & tiredness In Ayurveda, the feet are considered sacred and powerful, as they bear the body’s weight and are constantly in contact with the Earth element (Prithvi Mahabhuta). Washing them cleanses not just physical impurities but also energetic impressions we pick up through the day. The feet are the exit points for toxins and negative energy absorbed throughout the day. Salt has grounding and detoxifying properties — when combined with warm water, it helps release stored tension and calms the overactive mind. Salt, being a natural cleanser and absorber of negative energy, helps draw out impurities — not only physical toxins but also subtle energetic heaviness. That’s why it is said to purify your prana and clear the energy field (aura). Soaking your feet in warm salt water helps balance Vata dosha, which governs movement and the nervous system. Please keep this in mind: Avoid very hot water — it can increase Pitta (heat) and cause irritation. Avoid if you feel excess heat in the body If you have open wounds, cracks, or skin infections, use mild salt or consult a doctor first. People with very low blood pressure should avoid long soaking times, as it can lower blood pressure slightly. If you have high BP you can keep a wet towel on your head while doing this Always listen to your body and intuition while implementing any practices as only you know what is best for you. . . . #padaprakshalana #soakyourfeetinwamwater #hotwaterfootbath #saltwaterfootbath #100practicesbyantarayatra #100simplepractices #harharmahadev #jaimaharajji #thankyouthankyougod #antarayatrayoga #antarayatra
