The Last of Us is an action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Players control Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenage girl, Ellie, across United States. The Last of Us is played from a third-person perspective. For most of the game, the player takes control of Joel, a man tasked with escorting a young girl, Ellie, across the United States. The player also controls Ellie throughout the game's winter segment, and briefly controls Joel's daughter Sarah in the opening sequence. In Chapter 3, Joel and Ellie travel to the outskirts of Lincoln, Massachusetts, in search of Bill, a survivalist and acquaintance of Joel's. They believe Bill might have a vehicle that can help them continue their journey westward with Ellie. Part 1: The Woods. This subchapter marks Joel and Ellie's arrival in the outskirts of Bill's town. They navigate through a wooded area leading towards the more fortified parts of the town. This section often introduces the player to the environmental hazards and the sense of isolation surrounding Bill's settlement. Later Joel and Ellie enter the main area that Bill has rigged with traps. This subchapter focuses on navigating these traps, exploring the various buildings Bill has fortified and encountering infected within this unique environment. The interactions with Bill begin and develop here.
