The most beautiful country in the world is in a crisis... and it has come up as an opportunity for a number of Indians... New Zealand is seeing one of the largest exits of its population... Almost 20% of the citizens of New Zealand have left in recent years... with the highest number of over 120,000, making up almost 2.5% of the population leaving in 2024 alone. But why are people leaving, and how are Indians using this? People are leaving because housing prices are unaffordable, and the Kiwis find better job offers in Australia, which is an open economy to NZ citizens. At this time, in 2024 alone, NZ has seen the largest inflow of Indians... over 27,000... and in June 2025, NZ has started recognising Indian degrees, not requiring Indians to pass additional exams in their country to fill in the shortage of labour... which is at a 50 year high! There are 5 major types of skills which have been Green Listed that immediate residency visas are being given for: 1/ Healthcare Workers, i.e. Doctors, Nurses, Medical Lab professionals 2/ Engineers in Construction, Civil, and Construction Product Managers 3/ Software Engineers, Database Managers 4/ Environmental and other scientists 5/ Primary and Secondary Teachers Even accountants and trade specialists are in demand. For this visa, people need to give a letter of full time employment from a NZ employer along with proofs of skill and experience. And most people who go to NZ use it as a backdoor entry to Australia legally... By working in NZ for 5 years on residency, people apply for and get citizenship... Once they get citizenship, they become eligible to work in Australia... so they go across to Australia in search for better pay, and then in 4 years of working in Australia... apply for Australian citizenship. And one pattern I’m seeing emerge across the world is a huge demand for nurses - across Germany, Italy, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Populations are growing older... and they need skilled people from younger economies, paying them 3X the salary they get in India... nurses and healthcare professionals being the most in demand from India. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like, Share, Subscribe for more!
