Fortunes were at stake and Egos were bruised. Traditional Martial artists were caught off guard and looked âinwardâ claiming they had uncovered the hidden techniques everyone overlooked to defeat âotherâ styles âĶbut you just didnât study hard or deep enough. They claimed to have all the answers, but reality fighting, dojo storming and eventually the internet proved otherwise. The same way Uber, Amazon and Facebook dominated their newly created categories, I went virtually bankrupt developing Tettsu Bushi Jitsu by studying and getting my ass kicked in multiple disciplines âĶincluding Kyokushin Karate, Kodokan Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. (Each art being âdisruptersâ in their own right!) By achieving the coveted BLACK BELT in all three systems âĶI began documenting fight footage and pressure tested techniques on video and in print since 1986. Now in my 50âs, Iâm still sharpening my sword but unencumbered by stylistic ideology or âcult-likeâ adhesion to any 1 art.
