And turning to Paris. Greece′s finance minister has wrapped up talks with his French counterpart as part of efforts to find a way out of his country′s long-term debt crisis. Paul, of course... many are worried that Greece may be on track to exit the European Union... considering this newly elected government in Athens Well, in his latest charm offensive, the Greek Minister Vanis Varou-fakis downplayed those fears. He told reporters that Greece is rolling out a set of reforms and debt relief measures as the current agreement with its creditors expires at the end of this month Varoufakis says his eyes are on his country′s financial health... as well as that of Europe′s... as he pledged - once again - that Athens will make good on its outstanding debts. This as he vowed to cut off what he called Greece′s "addiction" to EU bail-out funds. " No. It′s not that we don′t need the money; we are desperate because of certain commitments and liabilities that we have. But my message to our European partners is that for the last five years Greece has been living for the next loan tranche. And as I said to Mr. Sapin, we have resembled drug addicts, craving the next dose." In order to get there, the finance minister proposed forgiving half of Greece′s existing debt which stand at around four-hundred billion U.S. dollars. He also said Athens will work with individual countries and entities on repayment deals... but not with the so-called "troika"... which he called a "committee of technocrats."
