Service for Advent Sunday (28th November 2021)

"Jesus tells us that our “Redemption is near” when he returns in glory. This redemption is more than a purely personal encounter; this will be the kingdom of God known in all its fullness - injustice will end, death will finally be defeated & peace will reign. It is social and environmental as well as personal: hearts will no longer be broken by suffering & sorrow the marginalised, exploited & abused will be liberated from all that oppresses them migrants will no longer need to die crossing seas seeking a better life birds & butterflies will no longer disappear into extinction because of our disharmony with nature women will be able to walk the streets without fear for all violence will end" From Simon's message in the service This is the service recorded at South St Baptist Church for Advent Sunday led by our minister, Simon. He introduces our Advent theme: Advent Encounters and speaks about the first encounter we will reflect on - encountering Jesus in glory at his return; this will be an encounter beyond description that will bring God's reign of love and justice to the whole earth.
