In addition to a new 415bhp, 3.6 liter, flat-six engine, the vehicle featured “zero lift” aerodynamics, meaning the car creates only aerodynamic downforce and no grip-diminishing “lift” upwards and away from the road surface. The GT3 made use of a modified, track oriented version of Porsche’s active PASM suspension making it the first of Porsche’s RS or GT3 versions to feature an electronically adjustable suspension system. Also available was a navigation system and Porsche’s “sports chrono” gauge package. The car went to sale in summer of 2006. A total of 917 units were sold in the United States and 46 units in Canada. GT3 CUP Race Car Background: From February 2006 until September of 2009, Porsche completed approximately 1,168 type 997.1 GT3 RS models worldwide. As a result of achieving homologation of the GT3 RS road car, Porsche Motorsports was able to complete a small sublet of these for organized racing in various countries under the designation type 997/830 and identified by Porsche as the GT3 CUP. This particular GT3 CUP Race Car was sold new to Japan where it actively raced on and off for just shy of ten years where it accumulated just shy of 10K kilometers / 6K miles of track use. It was stored and un-raced from 2021 until our purchase and import to the States. Upon arrival, the car was carefully inspected and evaluated and then given full engine and gearbox out services. All new brake rotors were fitted and a new rear main seal also installed. An all new clutch was then installed and full fluid and filter services undertaken. New plugs and coils installed and an engine oil analysis was done with perfect results. A compression and leak-down test also provided perfect results. A DME report was also done, again with perfect results and showing no issues or abuse. Total for parts and labor are just over $14K for all work completed.
