Nausea | Full Film (2015)

“Nausea” is a psychological drama by Zeki Demirkubuz that powerfully depicts modern life’s alienation, an individual’s inner conflicts, and loneliness. Ahmet loses his wife and young daughter in a car accident on a night he is spending with his lover. Although this tragic event does not seem to shake him at first, over time minor mishaps and unexpected situations begin to deeply affect his relationships, emotional state, and daily life. The film strikingly highlights human existential loneliness and the pressures brought by modern life. Director’s Note: The story of the film is not directly related to Jean-Paul Sartre’s novel “Nausea.” However, seven years earlier, Zeki Demirkubuz had planned to work on an adaptation of Sartre’s novel and saved the project file under the name “Nausea.” Over time, the film evolved in a different direction, giving a more original approach to the characters’ inner worlds and the themes of loneliness.
