Hello Permaprediz! Today I'm bringing you another VERY special video, one of the most requested except for the next one about trees... here's a method for improving "defective" plantations in a very short time. Now we're focusing on this task... We have two trees to transplant, and this time it was our orange tree's turn! Poor thing... we had it VERY neglected... it was covered by a bush and very hidden, so much so that some very interesting things happened to it, which I'll show you below. As I promised, in the video, I'll add information about transplants and some recommended videos on the subject. What and when to transplant? We're always talking about trees well acclimated to their destination. Soil-to-soil or bare-root: Hardy or deciduous trees: Fall, winter, and spring, never in summer or when the evapotranspiration rate in your area exceeds the rainfall rate. There are exceptions with specific irrigation systems, but there's no guarantee of success, not even with root training. It's always best to wait for the right climate. Cold-sensitive trees or sensitive evergreens like avocados: Ideally, early spring, but with no risk of frost or with good protection. Summer or periods of intense heat and drought are also not ideal... we could say there are two optimal times: spring and early fall... From container to soil: If the tree is well acclimated, as we mentioned before, it can be planted at any time... EXCEPT... for trees that specifically cannot tolerate intense cold or heat in their youth. In that case, we will need to protect them for several years using various techniques and methods until they reach a size large enough to survive on their own, as is the case with avocados, which need to be fully grown to withstand extreme cold. Beyond my years of experience in #HolisticPermaculture, I still consider myself a Permprentice. In fact, I see it as a necessary condition to be able to advance in life and in our #SendelaColina project. However, being a #Permprentice has nothing to do with going through life looking for a teacher, or that enlightened being who will help us along the way. Rather, it's about finding a peer, someone to trust and allowing yourself to be influenced by them, and thus sharing our points of view. The beauty of being a perma-learner is that it's not a permanent state, but rather a balance. When Facu shares something that interests him, I listen and do the practice he suggests without question, since I recognize and appreciate that it was he who dedicated his time to researching what he's proposing. I invite you to be perma-learners :)
