I left the audio in for this one because I happened to record my thoughts about it as I was taping. This clip ends abruptly because Clee stepped on a rock in the water and went lame for a moment. She was fine by the time we untacked her and started walking back to the trailers. The FL Horse Park has laid down a lot of new footing in places, using large clumps of coral which don't crumble up under foot (by large, I mean about 1-2 inches in diameter). Chances are, Clee stepped on something like that and it stung for a little while. Lauren suggests a product called Dura Sole Hoof Hardener, a product a friend of hers in Texas developed which has grown in popularity throughout the south, to make hooves less sensitive to stoney ground. Clee is barefoot, of course, but my heart sure sank when she went lame like that (Have I mentioned my paranoia after losing Ted?), so I'm thinking of switching from my favorite Keratex (another hoof hardener) to Dura Sole. The fussy mommy feels better when she can buy something new for her baby.
