Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is a 2010 third-person shooter video game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 that was developed by IO Interactive and released by Square Enix's European subsidiary. It's a follow-up to Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. The game revolves around crooks Adam "Kane" Marcus (Brian Bloom) and James Seth Lynch (Jarion Monroe), who reunite in Shanghai, China for an arms sale after agreeing to divide the money for their retirement. When things go wrong, however, the two suddenly find themselves fighting for survival and escape when they become targets of Shanghai's underbelly. The game was announced in November 2009 with a new visual style influenced by documentary films, user-generated content, and the visual quality of camcorder footage, with in-game camerawork primarily inspired by hand-held cinematography. To make its cutscenes look more unprofessional, the game uses unprofessional editing, jarring or out of place jump-cuts, and/or quick cutting. When the player dies or during specific situations, the camera will occasionally collapse. According to the press announcement, every part of the game has been developed to provide a new meaning to the terms "intensity" and "realism." Pixelization is also used to suppress some of the game's excessive violence and nudity.
