Honda CR500 vs. KTM 300xcw Ready. Go! 🏍💨✊🏻

Check out our line of Enduro Helmet chin mounts for action cameras - https://shop.wannabes.life Today we got to do something pretty awesome! We hit the trails on two vary iconic bikes from two different generations of riders. The Honda CR 500 has long been hallowed as a feared and respected machine by all who ride it. It is renowned for its explosive power and ability to climb just about any big hill. On the other hand you have the KTM 300 xcw which is also an excellent bike. For a long time now we have been itching to compare these to amazing machines side by side. The gear head in you may be say "there's no replacement for displacement". Right?! But there's 20 years of engineering between these two bikes. For this reason maybe a direct comparison isn't fair. It's undeniable that if a modern 500 cc two stroke bike was made today it would beat both these bikes in every aspect. Over the last 20 years KTM has figured out how to squeeze about the same amount of peak power out of the 300 xcw as the CR500. The difference between the bikes is the way the power comes on. These bikes were built for different purposes and as such have different characteristics. The CR500 has great low end power with the stock pipe, good but short mid range and its a bomb when you get on the pipe. Being that Honda had track riders in mind when they made the CR500 the explosive power makes a lot of sense but on technical terrain this kind of power can be difficult to manage. The KTM was built with Enduro riding in mind and as a result the power band is much more predictable and friendly. It has a gob of low end power, great mid range and a pipe that comes on latter but still lets you know that you're riding a two stroke. At the end of the day these are both awesome machines that can easily give you any thrill you're looking for. The only hope is that one day KTM will bring back the big bore two stroke with modern suspension, frame geometry and power delivery.
