THE BLESSINGS OF OBEDIENCE An Evening with Jesus – Part Four John 14:12-27 October 20, 2024 THE BLESSINGS JESUS PROMISES HIS FOLLOWERS: 1. The (resources of heaven) are at our disposal. “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” – John 14:14 NIV 2. We experience intimacy with Jesus. “And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” – John 14:21 NLT 3. We are given (wisdom) and (insight) for daily life. “But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you.” – John 14:26 NCV 4. We get to have peace of mind and heart. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.” – John 14:27 NLT THE CONDITION FOR EXPERIENCING GOD’S BLESSINGS: OBEDIENCE “If you love me, obey my commandments…. Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me…. All who love me will do what I say…. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me.” – John 14:15, 21, 23-24 NLT Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” – Matt. 22:37-40 NIV “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” – John 13:34 NIV 1. Encourage one another. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…. – 1 Thess. 5:11 NIV 2. (Serve) one another. …serve one another humbly in love. – Gal. 5:13b NIV 3. Be patient with one another. Be patient with each other, making allowances for each other’s faults because of your love. – Eph. 4:2 NLT 4. Speak (truthfully) to one another. You must always speak the truth to each other, because we all belong to each other…. – Eph. 4:25 ERV 5. Honor one another. Honor one another above yourselves. – Rom. 12:10 NIV 6. (Forgive) one another. …forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. – Col. 3:13 NIV 7. Share with one another. …so we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? – 1 John 3:16-17 NLT 8. Do not (take advantage of) one another. God wants you to be made holy. He wants you to stay away from sexual sins…. You should not take advantage of your brother or sister. – 1 Thess. 4:3 & 6 NIRV 9. Carry one another’s burdens. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. – Gal. 6:2 NIV 10. Be (devoted to) one another. Be devoted to one another in love. – Rom 12:10 NIV They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. – Acts 2:42 NIV
