This series focuses entirely on the main, City of Fear storyline. If you are interested in one of the side missions, don’t worry. Those are next and get their own separate videos after this last City of Fear episode. Although, you may have seen some of the side missions being referenced or started in this playthrough as requirements for the main story. All of my gameplay was recorded on the PS4 version of the game. We will pick things up by dropping Barbara off at the GCPD and resuming the hunt for Scarecrow and Jim Gordon. Here’s a summary of what occurred up to this point: Scarecrow threatened to cover the city in fear gas. Poison Ivy was found after she would not help Scarecrow and detained Poison Ivy in GCPD. Some military forces, tanks, and a new Arkham Knight character helping Scarecrow showed up. Batman corners Scarecrow in Ace Chemicals but tells Batman Oracle is about to be taken away and distracts Batman long enough to escape. Ace Chemicals does not hold up during all the chaos and it blows up and falls apart as we escape. We are also going to be seeing Joker frequently going forward as he is now a lasting part of Bruce’s imagination, sort of. Batman followed the Arkham Knight all across Gotham to try saving Oracle, but came up short repeatedly. The Penguin hinted a man named Simon Stagg may be associated with Scarecrow and Arkham Knight. We went to Simon Stagg’s blimps to find his life was in danger and he was being hunted by the Arkham Knight’s mercenaries. We save Simon Stagg only to find out he was helping Scarecrow by building a weapon called Cloudburst. Cloudburst is a weapon meant to spread the fear gas further, enhance its strength, and make it last longer. Scarecrow got airlifted away by the Arkham Knight with the Cloudburst and we left Stagg behind. During his escape, Scarecrow let us know Oracle’s location. We arrived and found Oracle, but we were unable to save her. Running out of options, we recall that Poison Ivy was immune to the fear toxin and seek out her help. Poison Ivy starts reviving ancient plants that can counter the fear toxin. While Poison Ivy gardened, Batman used the batwing to search for the Cloudburst. We don't find the Cloudburst in time and it detonates, covering the playable city in fear toxin. We get the Batmobile running, grow one more ancient tree for Poison Ivy, and face off against the Arkham Knight in the toxin. The Arkham Knight fight ends with his tank destroyed, Cloudburst destroyed, and and the villain fleeing the scene. We return to Poison Ivy in time to see her clear all the toxin in a dying effort. After losing Poison Ivy and clearing the toxin, we receive word about an unexpected SWAT transmission at GCPD. The SWAT transmission was Commissioner Jim Gordon signaling he found Scarecrow. By the time we reach Jim, he has been captured by the Arkham Knight and the militia. We face the Arkham Knight to save Jim and it is revealed the Arkham Knight is Jason Todd, the former Robin that was believed to be dead. Batman wins the fight but hesitates when it is time to detain Jason, giving him time to escape. With the Arkham Knight gone, Batman saves Jim and they go to confront Scarecrow. Scarecrow reveals Barbara Gordon is alive and Batman just hallucinated seeing her die. Batman Escapes with Barbara Gordon but has to leave Jim Gordon behind to do it. With all of that said, the story is set to continue in the last game in the Batman Arkham video game series by Rocksteady. I hope you enjoy the gameplay, my random commentary on situational humor, reminiscing about DC comic characters, and my reflections on the game.
