The main challenge was to use my whole body as a tool to express myself and build my character.ð Doing this project has made me vulnerable, because I had the same performing expectations of myself than when I sing, even though I am NOT a dancer. And this was actually very confronting, but it also made me grow a lot. Anyway, Iâve been lucky to meet on my path Dani, aka @capta_lavie , that shared his knowledge and love for dance with me. We trained hard, he pushed me, I had to go through all sorts of mental blocage (Iâm always scared to hurt myself and I have a phobia for handstands & cartwheels) âĶ Iâm still not the queen of cartwheels though ðļðŧðĪļð―ââïļ It is very curious to see all the similarities between dance and voice: The connection to your stage partners The need of grounding and energy The intention and connection between each movement (// words, notes) The visualisation of the movement (// musical phrase) And much more of course! Exploring all these elements from a new perspective make me assimilate them better. Funny thing I noticed: since I trained singing that specific aria while dancing, now when I do it in the traditional way, my body is much more expressive, free and relax than before. I am very curious, have you ever had dance/movement classes?
