I will attempt to provide, in this review, all of the answers to the questions that I had prior to purchasing this item, yet which I found sadly lacking in almost all of these reviews++namely, just HOW effective is the taser? HOW badly does it hurt? Could it really put an attacker down, or would it simply cause him pain without stopping him and cause him to become even more vicious?Well...I can tell you that I tested this device on myself four times so far while wearing blue jeans and a sweatshirt. I zapped myself on my upper leg twice, once on my thigh, and once on my arm's bicept. I could only hold it against myself for a mere fraction of a second (maybe 1/10 of a second) each time because the pain is so very intense that it made me cease thinking and my body's natural reaction took over. The pain is intense. It feels like a combination of being burned by something very hot while at the same time having muscles in the tased area spasm while millions of needle+like sensations of pain spread through my entire body. I could never imagine holding this device against any part of my body for an entire second unless I had a friend do it for me.That said, however, were I a woman, or anybody else, for that matter, but especially a woman (sorry...I am thinking of my petite girlfriend), I am not sure that I would want to rely on this incredible weapon as my SOLE means of non+lethal self+defense. That's because what if the attacker simply gets a good shock for a second, you lose contact between the taser and him, he becomes even more aggressive, and begins hitting you with right hooks to the face?
