Last of Us Gameplay: Pittsburgh 1/2 After Ellie and Joel leave Bill's town, they drive west towards Pittsburgh. During their car journey, Joel discovers that Ellie has stolen some magazines from Bill's stash even though she was explicitly told not to do so. Knowing it was pointless to scold Ellie, Joel asks her what else she had stolen, and to his surprise, she gives him a tape with a country and western song that he seems to enjoy. During his nostalgia trip the song send him on, Ellie jumps into the front seat. At this point, Joel advises her that she gets some sleep but she mentions that she isn't tired. Although, it becomes apparent that she was more tired than she said she was because she is awoken as they arrive in Pittsburgh to the sight of part of the highway blocked off by abandoned cars. Joel hesitates on what to do next and thinks about turning back, knowing that going through the city would more than likely spell danger for them. He gambles and decides to take them through the city where they come across a seemingly injured man who is asking for help. It's at this point that Joel tells Ellie to put on her seatbelt. Unknowingly to Ellie, the man is in fact not injured and is playacting, but she questions Joel on why she isn't going to help the "injured" stranger, to which Joel replies, "He isn't even hurt." As Joel speeds towards the stranger, he finally reveals his true intentions and pulls out a gun, shooting at the car. We soon discover what Joel already knew, it's an ambush. As more people come to the frontline to attack the car, Joel and Ellie dodge weave their way past them in the car until they are hit by a bus that sends them hurling towards an old records store. Joel and Ellie must fight their way through waves of human enemies who are known as "Hunters" and are willing to kill any trespassers. Using his explosives, smoke bombs, molotov cocktails and other weaponry such as his shotgun and hunting rifle, Joel brutally makes his way through the various waves of hunters both he and Ellie encounter as they travel through Pittsburgh. During their travels, they pass through a hotel where, after Joel has murdered all the hunters in there, he falls down an elevator shaft. He soon realises that he is not alone down in the lower floors of the building and encounters a new kind of infected, stalkers. The sneak around in the dark corners of the room trying to catch Joel off guard as he tries to bring the power back by powering up a generator. Once he does this, he finds himself facing a wave of stalkers accompanied by another bloater. He fights for his survival so that he can make his way back to Ellie who is several floors above him.
