Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set in London in 1868, during the height of the Industrial Revolution, where factories roar, smoke clouds the sky, and the Templar Order rules every corner of the city. Into this world arrive twin Assassins, Jacob Frye and Evie Frye, who travel from Crawley after the death of their father. Their father was a strict believer in the Creed, and although both twins were raised as Assassins, they have very different personalities. Jacob is bold, loud, and eager to fight, while Evie is careful, strategic, and deeply committed to the Brotherhood’s principles. When they reach London, they discover the city is completely controlled by the Templar Grand Master Crawford Starrick, a powerful industrialist who holds influence over banks, factories, politics, crime syndicates, and transportation. Starrick’s rule has crushed the working class, filled the streets with child labor, and turned London into a machine of profit and suffering. Evie wants to locate a powerful First Civilization artifact known as the Shroud of Eden, rumored to be hidden in London. Jacob wants to overthrow Starrick’s empire by force. Their two missions run side by side, sometimes working together and sometimes clashing. Jacob forms a street gang called The Rooks to fight Starrick’s gang, The Blighters. As he frees each borough from Templar control, he takes down Starrick’s key allies, including corrupt factory owners who abuse child workers, politicians rigging the government, bankers manipulating the economy, and wealthy businessmen who spread fear and violence across London. Jacob’s victories inspire the city but also create unintended chaos, as his aggressive choices destabilize the fragile balance of the city. Meanwhile, Evie works closely with Henry Green, the leader of the London Brotherhood, who is secretly Jayadeep Mir, the son of Indian Assassin Arbaaz Mir. Together they track down clues to the Shroud of Eden, uncovering hidden vaults, ancient letters, and Templar secrets buried beneath London’s streets. While Evie tries to maintain control, she grows worried that Jacob’s recklessness will make things worse, and the twins begin to clash over their methods. During their mission, the twins meet many famous historical figures. Alexander Graham Bell builds their gadgets. Charles Dickens helps them investigate strange mysteries. Charles Darwin uncovers scientific conspiracies. Florence Nightingale tends to wounded workers. Karl Marx helps Jacob unite the oppressed laborers. Each alliance strengthens their fight against Templar rule. But as Jacob eliminates more Templar leaders, London begins to suffer from riots, disease, and shortages. Starrick takes advantage of the chaos and prepares his final plan: to seize the Shroud of Eden for himself.
