Xavier University, Patna, marked the 79th Independence Day of India with a vibrant and heartfelt celebration on campus, honoring the nation’s legacy and the spirit of freedom. The ceremony commenced at 9:00 AM with the flag hoisting by the esteemed Chief Guest, Col. (Retd.) Amit Sinha, whose presence brought pride and inspiration to the gathering. As the tricolour soared high, the national anthem echoed across the campus, stirring emotions of unity and patriotism. Following the flag hoisting, the Vice-Chancellor delivered a warm welcome address, asking the students to reflect on the expaectations our founding fathers had from and how if each one changes themselves, India will rise to great heights of peace and prosperity. The Dhwani Club of Xavier University then captivated the audience with a soul-stirring patriotic song, setting the tone for the day’s celebrations. Col. Sinha addressed the students with a powerful speech, drawing from his experience in the armed forces and emphasizing the importance of discipline, service, and national pride. His words resonated deeply with the young minds present. A significant highlight of the event was the release of two books, each a curated collection of research papers authored by faculty and scholars of the university. These publications underscore Xavier University’s dedication to academic excellence and intellectual contribution. Adding a creative dimension to the celebration, the Xavier Theatre Club presented a poignant mime performance saluting the Indian Army’s contributions during peacetime—an often overlooked aspect of their service. This was followed by a dynamic and expressive patriotic dance by the Xavier Dance Club, which celebrated the diversity and unity of India through movement and rhythm. Xavier University’s Independence Day celebration was not just a tribute to the past, but a call to action for the future—reminding everyone of the values that define India and the role each citizen plays in shaping its destiny.
