One sunny afternoon, they played on the playground. They ran through the grass, climbed up the slide, and bounced on the seesaw After so much fun, Rabbit said, “Let’s go home! I’m ready for something yummy!” Raccoon smiled. “Great idea! I have fruit, juice, and two pieces of chocolate cake waiting at home!” Rabbit’s eyes lit up. She felt so excited! When they got to Raccoon’s cozy house, the table was ready— A big bowl of fruit, two cups of juice, and two small slices of chocolate cake. Just before they sat down, Raccoon said, “Wait! We need to wash our hands first!” “Why” asked Rabbit, tilting her head. Raccoon said “We touched the slide, the seesaw, and the ground. There are tiny things called microbes on our hands—germs too small to see. Some microbes are okay, but some can make us feel sick if they go into our mouths.” Then they imagined—Rabbit eating crunchy carrots with dirty paws… Uh-oh! Her tummy started to hurt, and she looked so sad in their minds. Rabbit gasped, “Oh no! I don’t want a tummy ache!” She jumped up and hurried to the sink. “Let’s wash our hands now!” Raccoon followed her with a smile. “First, turn on the water.” Swishhh! “Now wet your hands.” Splash! Splash! “Next, soap!” they said together. They rubbed their paws—front, back, between the fingers, and under their claws. “Look at all these bubbles!” giggled Rabbit. Then they rinsed the soap away. Swishhh! As the water flowed, the soap bubbles turned into brave little heroes, chasing the sneaky microbes off their paws! “Go away!” shouted the bubbles. The microbes tumbled down the drain—bye-bye!—never to bother anyone again. Then they dried their paws with soft, fluffy towels. “All clean!” said Raccoon. “Fresh and safe!” said Rabbit, wiggling her paws. Now it was dessert time!
