Stupid luck based on items. From reviewers, this mode is considered to be borderline unfair. While tracks like Cortex Castle and Tiny Arena are relatively easy to beat, tracks like Blizzard Bluff and Crash Cove (the first track!) are beyond difficult. Playing CTR for 3 years and CNK for a decade, using the shortcuts and mastering the perfect drift boosts aren't even enough to pass the CPUs. Because items are being use against you (and are needed to slow down the CPUs as well), Hard mode is truly a challenge. The bosses are the same. Not only do they go much faster than usual, but they drop weapons much faster and immediately once the race starts. Oxide took me like 50 tries to beat him. While I have no intention of beating Hard to 101%, It is possible. Main thing that helped me beat Oxide were the Clock and the one Flask placed a few places away from the boost, causing Oxide to fall off the ramp and be reset. As of 10-27-19, this is hella easier after adjusting to NF's feel. Also this was pre engine swap. So I was playing on "Balanced" stats.
