🚙Renting a Car in Sikkim? Watch This! #shorts #sikkim #travel

Save for later !! Let's start with the pros of a self-drive car 2. Renting a car and fuel will be much cheaper than getting a private taxi with a driver for the whole leg of your road trip. 3. Getting a personal vehicle gives you an immense sense of comfort and privacy. 4. You get to decide the pace of your trip with no restrictions on how long to stay or when to leave. You also get the independence to make changes to your itinerary last minute. 5. Getting the car was a swift and hassle-free process. We got a Zoom car which we picked up and dropped at the Bagdogra airport. We didn't have to meet up with anyone car was automatically unlocked for us, and we just left after coordinating with them over the phone, which saved us a lot of time. Nothing comes with Cons, so here are some we came across 1. Private self-drive cars are not allowed everywhere, yes, places like Tiger Hill in Darjeeling, Nathula Pass in Gangtok, and even the whole of north Sikkim. But you can hire a taxi to cover all these places. I still think it's cheaper to just hire a cab for places you can't drive to. 2. Parking can be tricky during your stay. While booking the stay, we made sure that our hotel had parking, but upon arrival, we were told self-drive cars were not allowed to park, and we should have called ahead. It was all sorted out upon request, but we faced the same issue in Gangtok as well. So make sure your stay is ok with a private self-drive car. 3. Driving in the hills takes skills. Hilly terrain is tricky to drive at, but the route from Darjeeling to Sikkim especially has extreme hairpin turns, plus the road quality is also not the best. If you have never driven to the hills, I won't suggest this route to be your first. Instead, get a cab and enjoy the ride. 4. You Can't trust Google Maps fully in Darjeeling or Sikkim. There are so many one-ways, no entries, and whatnot that keep changing as per the day and time, which is not constantly updated on Google, and you might end up lost. Hope this was helpful!!
