I will give a brief overview of the most striking sayings of the Amir al-Mu'minin – Umar. Umar once said, "Restraint is praiseworthy in all matters except those concerning the hereafter." The Arabs despised haste, calling it "the mother of all regrets." However, Umar clarified that this rule applied to all activities except those concerning the hereafter. Therefore, it is unacceptable to waste time when one has the opportunity to draw closer to Allah (swt) and thereby secure one's justification before death. After all, life is so short, and there are many who desire Paradise, and only God alone is worthy of praise. When it comes to the eternal abode, we are racing against time. And according to the Quran, the higher the goal, the greater the striving for it. Note that when it comes to worldly goals, the Quran uses the term famshu—meaning to walk—but when it comes to going to prayer, it uses the term fasa'u—meaning to follow; But when it speaks of our striving for Paradise, it uses the term sabiqu—meaning, "strive to get ahead"; and when it speaks of our striving for Allah, it uses the term fafirru—"rush." Thus, not every ambition in life deserves the same effort. Let your life's motto be the words of Allah's Prophet Musa, who said, "And I have hastened to You, O Lord, that I may please You." (Surah Ta-Ha, 20:84) This is the first gem of wisdom from Amir al-Mu'minin Umar. "Restraint is praiseworthy in all matters except those concerning the Hereafter." What other pearls of wisdom did Umar utter? He once said, "Ask yourselves to account for yourselves until you are called to account. And weigh your actions until you are weighed for them." And prepare yourself for the most important court hearing, during which nothing will remain hidden from you. Indeed, the responsibility on the Day of Judgment will be easier if you begin to be self-aware now. Allahu Akbar. Just think about the approach of businesspeople, the level of their evaluation and analysis in business projects, how meticulously they decide who to hire and who to fire; their reaction to losses, their attention to detail, and their vision for the future. Yes, a businessperson is always in a state of muh1asaba – they are self-aware. The same can be said about famous athletes. What made Michael Jordan the best basketball player of all time? Let's start with the fact that all his colleagues told us how he was constantly looking for flaws in every aspect of his game – his dunk, his dribbling, his jump shot, his three-pointer… and again, muh1asaba – self-awareness. As Muslims who believe that life begins after death, we must first and foremost develop the habit of muh1asabah—self-accountability. As in my previous examples, ask yourself: Who have I made as friends? What strengths have I wasted? What weaknesses have I been neglecting for years? Account for every word you utter. Was it for the sake of Allah? Perhaps it would have been better to remain silent? Or is this just a show-off? And then ask yourself: did I offer all five prayers on time today? A week has passed—has my iman changed or is it still the same? A year has passed, and my heart is harder than stone. Why? Why can't I even shed a tear in remembrance of Allah? #Umar #Khalifah #wisdom Our mission is Dawah, clarifying the Truth and calling people to it. ☪ Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/DawahMission?... ☪ Our Instagram: / missiondawah ☪ Our Telegram group: https://www.t.me/dawahmission ATTENTION!
