Stamina vs Endurance Let's say you were tasked with performing 1 pressup every second for as long as you could. Your stamina is how long you can maintain a specific rate of intensity before you fatigue below this threshold. Let's say you were asked to perform as many pressups as possible in 1 set with no time limit. This is a measure of endurance. Here stamina is irrelevant because there is no specified rate to maintain. How long can you continue to endure and perform the movement as slow as you want for a long period of time without stopping. How long can you maintain running at 20km/h? Test of stamina! How far can you run without stopping? Test of endurance! Stamina is a measure of how long you perform something at a set rate. Endurance is a measure of how long you can perform something without a set rate. Max amount of time spent in icy water is a test of endurance only and cannot be a test of stamina because there is no rate element. An endurance test ends with stopping what ever you were doing where as at the end of a stamina test, you are able to continue to perform at a lower rate or intensity. Stamina always measures physical capacity, generally over shorter time periods but endurance can measure both physical and mental capacity, generally over longer time periods. #stamina #Endurance #athlete #athletics #olympic #olympics #trackandfield #run #running #indianathletes #tamilnadu
