Today we are gonna do another crazy fashion design project: a DIY DIP DYE refashion project. I have a big big shirt that is made of a beautiful silk, however there is an ugly 80's print on there and the light nauxeating green also does not really please my eye. That is why I am gonna dye it with batik textile color. It is the first time I am dying, so I am not a professional at all. I just dissolved the powder in almost boiling water, unfortunately I took much more water than I needed. That is why the shirt turned out quite grey. But after Ironing I must say I love the color nuances. Please note the print was still visible! Howeve in the different grey tones much more bad ass. After that I want to apply a diy shirring technique around the waist. Therefore I wind up the bobbin with elastic thread (do not stretch out when you do this manually). Than Just sew like you normally would sew but probably you need a bit bigger stitch and a bit more tension on the upper thread. Than you can nicely pleat the silk where every you want. I did not go to the front in the end because it was pulling the middle front open. So I would recommend doing it only in the back if you have a similar button up shirt. Than I knotted off the threads by hand and Voila!
