Discover icons like Raul Seixas, Rita Lee, and Os Mutantes, whose works transcend generations, defining the legacy of true Brazilian rock. National Rock didn't begin in the 1980s! In fact, the 1970s were the period when rock gained momentum in Brazil, consolidating itself as an integral part of the fertile Brazilian music scene, largely due to the mixes performed by a wide variety of artists. For those still skeptical of my premise, let's remember that the curtains of that decade opened for names like Rita Lee and Raul Seixas, to name just two of the most remembered! I emphasize upfront that I never want to praise the bands of the seventies, or the sixties movements, to the detriment of the names that achieved success in the BRock era. My goal is simply to take a journey without delving into album analyses and historical contexts of what I consider to be the best we've ever had in terms of rock 'n' roll, a genre that was obscured by the explosion that began in 1982, with the release of Blitz's first album. In other words, prepare yourself for a truly heterogeneous mass of good music and stylistic blends. However, don't be fooled by prejudice, assuming that this stylistic variety detracts from rock. After all, in international rock, such blending and variation is much greater and less questioned. Let's begin our journey well before Os Mutantes and go all the way to 1982, marked as "year zero" for what is always referred to as Brazilian rock, the kind imbued with the spirit of post-punk or new wave.
