🇬🇧🇷🇺 The 1941 Invasion of Iran: When Allies Broke Neutrality

On 25 August 1941, United Kingdom and the Soviet Union launched a coordinated military operation into Iran, which at the time had declared neutrality. The operation was carried out without a formal declaration of war. The stated strategic objectives were to secure vital Allied supply routes to the USSR, later known as the Persian Corridor, and to reduce perceived German political and economic influence in the region. Iranian ruler Reza Shah was viewed by Allied planners as insufficiently aligned with their interests. The invasion occurred despite existing international agreements, including the 1907 Hague Convention and the 1928 Kellogg–Briand Pact, which sought to limit the use of armed force in international relations. No postwar legal proceedings were initiated in connection with the operation. #HistoryShorts #WWII #Iran1941 #AngloSovietInvasion #MilitaryHistory #AlliedForces #Documentary #WarHistory #Shorts
