Rosemary and minoxidil are both known to promote hair growth. However, their mechanisms of action are different. Rosemary is believed to work bystimulating blood circulation and promoting hair follicle health, while minoxidil works by prolonging the anagen (growing) phase of the hair cycle and increasing blood flow to the scalp. Several studies have been conducted to compare the effectiveness of rosemary and minoxidil for hair growth. One study published in 2015 compared the effects of rosemary oil and 2% minoxidil solution on hair growth in people with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a common form of hair loss. The study involved 50 people with mild to moderate hair loss, who were randomly divided into two groups. One group was treated with a topical solution of 2% minoxidil twice daily, while the other group was treated with a topical solution of 3% rosemary oil twice daily. After six months, both treatments were found to be effective in promoting hair growth. The group treated with 2% minoxidil showed a significant improvement in hair count, while the group treated with 3% rosemary oil showed a significant increase in hair thickness. While both treatments were effective, there was no significant difference in hair growth between the two groups. Another study published in 2017 compared the effects of a combined treatment of rosemary oil and minoxidil to minoxidil alone. The study involved 100 people with AGA, who were randomly divided into two groups. One group was treated with a combination of topical rosemary oil and 2% minoxidil twice daily, while the other group was treated with 2% minoxidil alone. After six months, both treatments were found to be effective in promoting hair growth. However, the group treated with the combination of rosemary oil and minoxidil showed a significantly greater improvement in hair growth, hair thickness, and hair count compared to the group treated with minoxidil alone. Overall, these studies suggest that both rosemary oil and minoxidil are effective in promoting hair growth in people with AGA. While minoxidil has been more extensively studied and has a longer track record of success, rosemary oil may offer a natural alternative or complementary treatment option. Additionally, combining rosemary oil with minoxidil may lead to even greater improvements in hair growth. . . . #rosemarywater #rosemaryhairgrowth #rosemaryessentialoil #dermatologist #haircare #hairgrowth #homeremedies
