In this video, I’ll show you how to take that animation and turn it into **neon text* using **After Effects and the free Saber plugin from Video Copilot**. First, I’m opening up my previous project and duplicating the upper text layer. I’ll rename it “Neon” and change the bar color to green so I can easily tell the layers apart. Then, I’ll move the cursor to the beginning of the animation and add a marker, and do the same at the end of the animation. This helps me know where the *neon glow effect* should start. ▪️Time: 0:44 With the new text layer selected, I’ll *pre-compose it and move all attributes* into a new composition. Now, I have a separate comp just for the neon text. ▪️Time: 0:54 Next, I’ll **right-click, add a new solid, and name it whatever I like**. From the Effects panel, I’ll apply **Saber**, a free plugin from Video Copilot, and drag it onto the solid layer. I’ll deselect my text layer for now. ▪️Time: 1:09 Then, in the Saber settings, I’ll open the *Customize Core* tab, change the core type to *Text**, and set the **Text Layer Source* to my neon text layer. For the preset, I’ll switch it to **Neon**. ▪️Time: 1:19 Now I can adjust the color of the neon text—I’m going with orange to match my scene’s lighting. ▪️Time: 1:25 To animate it, I’ll move the cursor to the *end marker* and add a keyframe for *Start Size* and *End Size**. Then, I’ll go back to the **start marker* and lower both values to *0* so the neon text gradually appears. I’ll do the same with the *End Offset* to refine the effect. ▪️Time: 1:42 For a more realistic look, I’ll drop down the *Flicker* settings and adjust the intensity so the text has a natural neon glow effect. ▪️Time: 1:50 Now, heading back to the main comp, I’ll *toggle the layer mode to Screen* so the neon text blends properly with the background. If the glow looks too strong, I’ll go back into the neon comp and lower the *Glow Intensity* until it looks just right. ▪️Time: 2:06 And that’s it!
